I simply wanted to make a new password for a college I was accepted into and said college uses microsoft to login. The new password screen requires me to put in the current password before I make the new password and the old password was made for me with my birthdate in it and the word wolverine before it, but now I can't make a new password because the microsoft system thinks the old password is the new password and says the old password is against the organizations password policy, making it impossible for me to get into the college!

It sounds like you're facing issues with resetting your password due to the organization's password policy. When creating a new password, Microsoft requires that the new password not be similar to the old password, especially if the old password is deemed weak or against policy guidelines. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Use a Different Password: Ensure that the new password you are trying to set is significantly different from the old one. Avoid using any part of the old password, including your birthdate or the word "wolverine."
    2. Check Password Requirements: Make sure your new password meets the organization's password policy requirements. This may include a minimum length, the inclusion of special characters, numbers, and a mix of upper and lower case letters.
    3. Contact Support: If you're still unable to reset your password, consider reaching out to your college's IT support team. They may have specific procedures in place for password resets and can assist you further.
    4. Try Alternative Recovery Options: If you have access to any recovery options (like a secondary email or phone number), use those to reset your password.
    5. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, clearing your browser's cache or trying a different browser can help resolve issues with password resets.

Following these steps should help you successfully create a new password and regain access to your college account.

I fixed it, it turns out I was looking at things wrong and didn't see the barely visible red line that showed where I actually screwed up.
