I need my Microsoft business account canceled. There is a reoccurring payment on my credit card every month for $9.04. I am unable to cancel it online and need the authorization revoked immediately. I have already submitted a dispute with Microsoft to my credit card company because you guys are so difficult to get in touch with to get this canceled. Moved from: Microsoft 365 and Office | Other

    Dear @Samantha Godfrey,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand that you are seeing a $9.04 monthly charge associated with a Microsoft business subscription. and online cancellation has not been successful. You have initiated a charge dispute with your card issuer and would like the authorization revoked immediately.

To better assistance, could you please confirm following information:

    • Whether the invoice shows Microsoft as seller or a partner/reseller (e.g., GoDaddy/CSP).
    • Can you sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center (admin.microsoft.com) with an admin role (such as Global or Billing Admin)?
    • In Billing > Your products, does the subscription appear and show a current status (Active/Past due/Disabled)?
    • On the subscription page, is Cancel subscription available or greyed out?

What term is shown (monthly or annual) and what is the next renewal date?

    • Was the subscription obtained directly from Microsoft, or through a partner/reseller (like GoDaddy/CSP)?

When attempting cancellation or editing billing settings, do you see any error messages or permission warnings?

Given the open dispute, is your immediate goal termination now or to stop future renewals while the bank’s review proceeds?

In the meantime, I recommend some steps below:

If you are an admin and the subscription is visible, navigate to admin.microsoft.com > Billing > Your products > select the subscription > Cancel subscription.

If the subscription is partner‑provisioned (CSP/GoDaddy), cancellation must be completed in the partner’s portal rather than the Microsoft 365 admin center.

With an active card dispute, certain billing actions or refunds may be restricted until the bank completes its review. You can still proceed to halt future renewals.

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I truly appreciate your patience and understanding. If you have any further questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reach out. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

To cancel your Microsoft business subscription, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
      • If you're using the Simplified view, select Subscriptions.
      • If you're using the Dashboard view, go to Billing > Your products.
    2. Select the subscription that you want to cancel.
    3. On the subscription details page, in the Billing settings section, under Subscription status, select Cancel subscription.
    4. If you’re within the grace period during which you can cancel your subscription, select a reason for why you’re canceling, provide optional feedback, then select Cancel subscription.
    5. If you’re outside the grace period, you can only turn off recurring billing. In the Canceling your subscription pane, review the information about how canceling works for your subscription, then select edit the recurring billing settings.
    6. In the Edit recurring billing pane, select Off, then select Save.

If you are unable to cancel your subscription online, you may need to contact Microsoft support for assistance.

Additionally, if you have a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) billing account type, you can only receive a prorated credit or refund if you cancel within seven days after the start or renewal of your subscription. After that period, you can turn off recurring billing to prevent further charges.

Make sure to back up any data you want to keep before canceling your subscription, as you may lose access to it after cancellation.
