Hi Tim Beard
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand how frustrating this is, when classic Outlook crashes shortly after you start using it.
Please try these basic troubleshooting steps before reaching out to Microsoft Support:
1. Start Outlook in safe mode
- Close Classic Outlook app completely
- Press Windows + R, type outlook.exe /safe > press Enter
- Try sending a test email in Safe Mode
- If Outlook is stable in Safe Mode, disable add-ins (Go to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage: COM Add-ins > Go) and re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.
2. If it still crashes, please try to Repair Office (Online Repair) and, if needed, create a new Outlook profile:
Please follow the official troubleshooting steps here: Outlook crashes or stops responding when used with Office 365 - Microsoft Support
3. Contact Support Team directly
Once you’ve tried the steps above, you can also reach out directly to the Microsoft Support team. It may offer live chat and, depending on your subscription/region, an option to request a callback:
- Go to Contact - Microsoft Support
- Type a brief description of your issue in the search box.
- Click "Get Help", then scroll to the bottom and select "Contact Support”.
- When prompted to select Products & Services, select "Other Products"; Under Category, select "Manage account security".
- Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" (during business hours) or a similar callback option (if available). Explain your situation clearly.
- Please note that The Chat support team only works at certain times, so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can contact you back and help you further.
For more details, you can also refer to these official support links:
- I can’t start Microsoft Outlook or receive the error “Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook Window” - Microsoft Support

Thank you for your time and understanding. Please feel free to reach back if needed.
