Can't change sign in PIN for log in

I have tried to reset/change the Microsoft Hello Pin for the account on this computer, but the PIN setting in sign-in options is marked as unavailable. I tried to go through and choose "forgot PIN", but it requires a password no one knows and then an authenticator code no one has to reset it.

Literally all I want to do is change the sign on PIN, and I'm going through the trenches to do it.

    To assist you better, I need to clarify a few details: 

    • Are you using any other sign‑in methods such as the Authenticator app, email, or phone number? 

    You can try the steps below to troubleshoot the issue:  

    Option 1: Recovery Options 

    • First, attempt password reset from another device or browser at account.live.com/password/reset 
    • Enter any associated email or phone, then use recovery methods like security questions or alternate email if available—success here lets you sign in and reset the PIN via Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options 

    Option 2: Update Windows 

    • Ensure that your Windows system is fully updated. Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and look for available updates. Installing the most recent updates can often fix unexpected problems. 

    Option 3: Account Switch 

    • Create a new local admin account via Command Prompt (admin) > type: 

    net user NewAdmin Password123 /add  

    net localgroup administrators NewAdmin /add  

    • Log in with it, then delete the old profile or recover files before resetting the original account
