2026-01-23T09:26:45.1733333+00:00 Hi Nitya V,
Thankyou for reaching microsoft Q&A!
The error “The resource type Microsoft.Synapse/workspaces/kustoPools is not found” typically occurs when Azure Resource Manager is temporarily unable to resolve the Synapse Data Explorer (Kusto pool) resource type. Since no changes were made on your side, this does not indicate a configuration problem in your workspace. This is most commonly caused by a transient control plane or resource provider metadata issue on the Azure platform. The data plane is not impacted, but management operations (ARM, Portal, IaC) may fail during this state.
As an initial validation, please confirm that the Microsoft.Synapse resource provider is registered in your subscription. In most cases, it is already registered, and no action is required from your side.

2026-01-27T03:18:15.0933333+00:00 We are also getting this error.
Our git configuration also disappeared and I had to re-add it.
And we see **"**Error: The resource type 'Microsoft.Synapse/workspaces/kustoPools' is not found." every time we switch branches in the Workspace.
This Workspace has been configured for months and we haven't changed anything.
Can this be fixed as a priority please.

2026-01-27T16:12:23.45+00:00 This issue first appeared on a UK South Synapse workspace on 14/01/2026. This occurs every time you enter, refresh or publish from the workspace. No material impact as far as I am aware. Annoying though.
Tests to resolve, without success
- permissions (sub owner applied)
- Browser (Chrome & Edge)
- VPN/Firewall/IP Settings
Microsoft.Synapse resource provider is registered
Tests to resolve, without success
- Re-register Synapse Resource

2026-01-27T17:16:32.0233333+00:00 Hi Microsoft Team, I have the same issue, this error suddenly started to appear around last week. Please your kind help with a workaround for this, even if this issue is not stopping operation, it is indeed annoying to have to refresh each time until this message dissapears.
Kind regards

The call to the endpoint: https://management.azure.com/subscriptions/[subscriptionId]/resourceGroups/[RG]/providers/Microsoft.Synapse/workspaces/[Workspace]/kustoPools?api-version=2021-06-01-preview
.. gives:{ "error": { "code": "ResourceTypeNotFound", "message": "The resource type 'Microsoft.Synapse/workspaces/kustoPools' is not found." } }Microsoft.Synapse is registered as well as resource provider here...

2026-01-30T11:39:56.3766667+00:00 We've also got this error across 4 environments, 3 resource groups in UK-South, nothing has changed on some of those. I think I first noticed the error popup around 12th Jan

2026-02-03T01:00:05.08+00:00 We are experiencing this error.
Meanwhile, we cannot execute any Notebooks. Getting the following message each time:
InvalidHttpRequestToLivy: Your Spark job requested 48 vcores. However, the workspace has a 0 core limit.
This is affecting our production environment and we have not been able to process data for days.

2026-02-03T01:05:59.2233333+00:00 Hi everyone. Please add COMMENTS, and not ANSWERS, otherwise support will look at the meta and think this issue is resolved (or resolving itself).
This question has 4 answers now, none of which solve the problem. This is obviously a bug or regression on the Azure side and needs Microsoft to fix it.
Microsoft Support: Can you please provide an ETA when this issue will be fixed?

2026-02-09T00:41:40.9633333+00:00 We raised a ticket with Microsoft and this was their response which may be helpful to others facing this issue - no resolution yet but at least nothing to be concerned about;
-- MS Response --
I'm sorry to hear you have started to get a popup message within Synapse Studio saying 'Microsoft. Synapse/workspaces/Kusto Pools' is not found. When you log into Synapse Studio and the "Data" hub is loaded (or when it's refreshed), all databases within the workspace are loaded. This includes dedicated SQL pools, serverless pools, and also Data Explorer/Kusto pools. However, Azure Synapse Analytics Data Explorer (Preview) was retired on October 7, 2025. After this retirement, the API call that checks for all databases to be loaded, continues to go and check for kusto pools, but the service that used to reply with this information has been removed since retirement of the product, which results in this popup message. So the message you are seeing is related to a resource validation that runs while loading or refreshing resources in the Studio. Since Kusto pools have been deprecated, this specific validation is currently failing. This UI pop-up is only informational and should not impact your overall experience, including SQL queries, pipelines, or Spark/notebook workloads. Our product group team has been made aware of the popup error issue, and they are working internally to resolve this. -

2026-02-09T13:59:23.6233333+00:00 Same for us as well.
Can Microsoft team disable this notification pop ups, if its not an bug?
This is creating confusion among our developers. -
