Hello, please help me, I just found out that the seller set my date of birth incorrectly at the time of purchase. And my Microsoft account is locked due to screen time restrictions because it is considered a child account. Please help me change it because I cannot access it myself as I do not know the parent account and I cannot change the date of birth on a child account. Please help me resolve this.

To resolve the issue with your Microsoft account being locked due to incorrect birthdate settings, you will need to contact Microsoft support directly. Since you cannot access the parent account to make changes, they are the best resource to help you unlock your account and correct your birthdate. You can explain your situation to them, and they should be able to assist you in removing the screen time restrictions and updating your account information.

Unfortunately, there is no direct way to change the birthdate or remove screen time restrictions without parental consent or support from Microsoft.

You are in a catch-22 situation. The following workaround should help:

    https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2025/12/microsoft-family-safety-require-permissions.html#gsc.tab=0

Create a new Microsoft account so you have a fresh “adult” account that can act as a Family Organizer.

Sign in with this new account and go to family.microsoft.com.

Create a Family group (or join one) using the new account.

Add your current Microsoft account to this Family group and accept the invitation when prompted.

Once your current account is part of the family, you’ll be able to change its Date of Birth because the new account acts as the organizer.

After updating the DOB, you can remove the accounts from the Family group if you no longer need it

I hope you find this information useful. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, please take a moment to accept the answer. Wishing you good luck!
