If your laptop's sound volume has decreased significantly after a Windows update, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Audio Drivers: Ensure that your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding your audio device, and checking for updates.
    2. Roll Back Drivers: If the issue started after a specific update, consider rolling back your audio driver to a previous version that worked well. This can sometimes resolve volume issues caused by new updates.
    3. Sound Settings: Check your sound settings in Windows. Go to Settings > System > Sound and ensure that the correct output device is selected. You can also check the volume levels and enhancements.
    4. Troubleshoot Audio: Use the built-in troubleshooter for audio problems. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run the "Playing Audio" troubleshooter to identify and fix issues.
    5. Check Volume Mixer: Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select "Open Volume Mixer". Ensure that the volume levels for all applications are set appropriately.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to look into reinstalling the audio drivers or checking for any additional updates that might address the problem.

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the problem you are having with your laptop audio. If the given steps did not work, you can also try this. A common step to fix this is to uninstall your audio drivers.

Open Device Manager using Windows + X, then expand Sound, video and game controllers. You may see entries like "Realtek(R) Audio" or "High Definition Audio Device," which is normal after updates. Right-click the main audio device (usually Realtek), select Uninstall device, check Delete the driver software for this device, and uninstall. Your sound may stop briefly, which is expected. If another audio device appears, uninstall it the same way, then restart your laptop so Windows can reinstall a fresh driver automatically.

Hope that these help, and if you need further assistance or have questions, leave a comment below.

    Thank you,
