    Dear shane sexton

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you are having a problem where you can sign in to your Hotmail/Outlook.com account but cannot see your email. I am happy to assist you. Please follow these steps:

    For Outlook.com (web)

    Verify service and browser prerequisites

Check Outlook.com service health via Microsoft service health status . If an outage is posted, please wait for Microsoft’s fix.

Use a supported, fully updated browser. Disable ad‑blockers or pop‑up blockers for Outlook.com, as these can hide content. See: Fixes or workarounds for recent issues on Outlook.com – Microsoft Support

    Eliminate filters/layout that hide messages

In the inbox, check Focused/Other tabs. Set Filters to “All,” and ensure the left pane/folders are visible. If the inbox still looks empty, follow the Outlook.com “Inbox empty or not loading / Emails don’t load” workarounds via Focused Inbox for Outlook – Microsoft Support.

Repair only Outlook/Live site data (don’t wipe all history)

    Edge (recommended):

    • Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data > Choose what to clear.
    • Select “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files.”
    • Remove entries specifically for outlook.live.com and login.live.com via “See all cookies and site data.”
    • Retry sign‑in.

If prompted to allow third‑party cookies just for the sign‑in hand‑off, use Edge’s temporary allow prompt (you can remove it later).

Safari (iPad/macOS) if webmail shows no mail

    • Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data: remove outlook.live.com / live.com, then reload.
    • Temporarily turn off “Prevent cross‑site tracking,” complete sign‑in, then re‑enable it after the mailbox loads.

    Clean session to isolate profile/add‑ons

Try Edge InPrivate or Safari Private Browsing. If this works, the issue is your normal profile cookies, tracking prevention, or an extension. Use the steps above to fix the regular profile.

    Quick access workaround

Install Outlook.com as a Progressive Web App (PWA): In Edge, go to … > Apps > “Install this site as an app.” This uses a fresh, isolated app container and often bypasses a corrupted browser profile.

Classic Outlook for Windows (desktop app)

    Check Focused/Other and filters

Go to View tab > Show Focused Inbox. Review “Other” and make sure no message list filter is hiding items.

Repair the Outlook profile and run Microsoft diagnostics

    • File > Account Settings > Account Settings > select your account > Repair.
    • If issues persist, run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) Outlook scan

See: How to use Outlook Support and Recovery Assistant diagnostics in Windows Get Help – Microsoft Suppo…

If you use a POP profile and recently installed Windows 11 update KB5074109 (Jan 2026), Microsoft has acknowledged Outlook hangs/freezes with POP profiles. This is unrelated to Outlook.com web but can affect seeing mail in Classic Outlook.

    Network sanity check

If the above does not resolve the issue, test on a different network (for example, a mobile hotspot). Review Microsoft 365 network health to rule out local DNS or proxy issues.
