Hello!

All of a sudden Outlook 2019 started hanging when I go to close it. This is not the supposed new one that came with Windows 11. This is the original program that came with Office 2019. Typically I need to go through the time consuming processes of waiting for the task manager to finally realize it needs to be closed. That is Outlook.

That was an immediate and temporary fix. But I am still curious if others have similar problems.

To address the hanging issues with Outlook 2019, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Repair Office Programs: You can automatically repair your Office program files. To do this, exit any running Microsoft Office programs, open Control Panel, go to Programs and Features, right-click on Microsoft Office 2019, and select Repair.
    2. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Office installation is up-to-date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for known issues.
    3. Create a New Outlook Profile: Sometimes, the Outlook profile can become corrupted. You can create a new profile by going to Control Panel, clicking on Mail, selecting Show Profiles, and then adding a new profile.
    4. Run the Inbox Repair Tool: Use the Inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) that comes with Outlook to repair any corrupted data files. Exit Outlook and follow the steps in the Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost).
    5. Disable Add-ins: Sometimes, add-ins can cause Outlook to hang. You can disable them by going to File > Options > Add-ins and managing the add-ins from there.
    6. Check Antivirus Software: Ensure that your antivirus software is up-to-date and not conflicting with Outlook. You may want to temporarily disable it to see if it resolves the issue.

If these steps do not resolve the hanging problem, consider checking for specific updates or patches related to Outlook 2019 that may address this issue.
