I have been trying to talk to a live person for a very long time. I have a business account with Microsoft I have not been able to access. At this point, I want to cancel my account. Please help me. Does anyone know how to make contact with a live person?

    Hi @Shaakira Potts,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum,

Regarding the difficulties you’ve been experiencing with your Microsoft business account. I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this situation has caused you. I completely understand how important it is to access your services smoothly and to be able to speak with a live representative when you need assistance.

From what you shared, it appears that your account may require identity verification or subscription validation before any updates can be made. For security reasons, these steps can only be completed by our Microsoft Billing Support team, who are authorized to verify ownership and take further action on your account.

Once connected, a live agent will verify your identity to confirm ownership of the business account and focus on helping you restore access so you can continue using your services without interruption; and if, after regaining access, you still decide that cancellation is the best option, the agent can then assist with processing the cancellation and provide a confirmation email once it's completed.

Since you are the sole Global Administrator for the tenant, please follow the steps below to complete the account recovery process and regain access.

Option 1: Contact Microsoft Data Protection Support by Phone (Primary Method)

To regain access to your admin account as you can't access the Admin Portal, you can try reaching out to our Global Customer Service phone to raise a request for resetting your authentication method here: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support. During the call, request to speak to an agent, and share with them every detail related to your query and also mention that you are the only admin lost access to your account. This should allow you to contact the appropriate team so you can solve this incident as soon as possible.

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:

In some countries, it is an automated conversation like:

IVR: What kind of problem are you concerned about?

    You: Account access issue.

IVR: What kind of product do you use?

    You: Office 365 for business.

IVR confirmation: education or company account?

    You: For companies

    IVR: Are you an administrator?

    You: Yes.

IVR: Do you have another administrator in your organization?

    You: No.

Option 2: Create a Temporary Account (Trial Tenant) to Submit a Support Ticket (Alternative Method)

If you still cannot reach to a live agent, there is still a workaround, you might consider registering for a new tenant by signing up for a trial subscription via this link Microsoft 365 Business Plans and Pricing | Microsoft 365. This would allow you to create a new tenant following the prompts provided. Once set up, you can access the admin console of the new tenant and submit a support ticket requesting to speak with the Data Protection team on behalf of your previous tenant.

Please note that forum moderators do not have access to user account settings and cannot assist with logging in, resetting passwords, or changing access rights. While we do not have access to internal systems or administrative tools required to resolve account-specific or backend-related issues but we’ll continue doing our best to support you within the scope of our responsibilities.

Please remember to cancel the trial subscription after your issue is resolved, as this will help you avoid any accidental billing. I hope this helps you regain access to your account quickly. I'm glad to assist and truly hope the information provided has been useful. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you need further assistance.

To talk to a live person about your Microsoft business account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Call Microsoft Support: You can find the customer service phone numbers for your region. When you call, you may hear an initial message; you can ignore it and wait for the menu options.
    2. Select the Right Options: When prompted, press "1" to indicate you're a business email user, then press "1" again for technical support. Follow the prompts to connect with a support agent.
    3. Use the Admin Center: If you're unable to reach a support agent via phone, you can create a trial Microsoft 365 tenant. This will allow you to sign in to the Admin Center and raise a support ticket directly from there.
    4. Contact Support Online: You can also start a service request online through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Go to the Help & Support section, describe your issue, and choose your preferred contact method.

If you are considering canceling your account, it may be beneficial to speak with a representative who can assist you with the process and any potential implications.
