Trackpad not working after sleeping laptop

Question

Issue:​ Trackpad becomes completely unresponsive after the laptop resumes from sleep. The issue persists regardless of the Fn+F8 toggle state (enable/disable icon appears normal). A full system restart (2-3 times) is required to restore functionality.

Context:​ This occurs frequently while using an external mouse (both Bluetooth and USB). The problem makes the laptop unusable without an external mouse.

Yes, based on the screenshot (I2C HID Device – “This device cannot start (Code 10)”), this is directly related to the touchpad not working. In most cases, it can be fixed by reinstalling or updating the correct driver.

Right-click on the I2C HID Device > Uninstall device > Restart the computer. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically after a restart.

Kindly right-click Start > Device Manager > Expand Human Interface Devices > Open I2C HID Device and also Touchpad device if listed > Double click on it and go to Power Management > Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" > Repeat for any device related to touchpad/mouse >Restart once and test.

It is also recommended to download and install the latest drivers for your computer only from the manufacturer's support page.
