    Hi,

I understand where you are coming from. If you only use Word and Excel a few times in a year, paying for a monthly Microsoft 365 subscription can feel too much for what you need.

One option you may want to consider is using Word Online and Excel Online. These are free to use with a Microsoft account and work directly in a web browser. For basic editing and viewing files, this is usually enough for occasional use.

If you prefer desktop apps and want to avoid a subscription, Microsoft also offers Office as a one time purchase like Office Home or Home and Student. You pay once and keep Word and Excel on your device, but it does not include feature upgrades or extra cloud storage.

At the end, it really depends on how often you use Word and Excel and whether you need offline access or cloud features. Microsoft provides different options so you can choose what works best for your budget and usage.

    I hope this helps!
