Filing a warranty claim for a Surface Laptop 4

I tried filing a warranty claim on the Microsoft link

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/how-to-get-service-or-repair-for-surface-b06da716-0763-65b3-e2f2-116d9e30f877#bkmk_online

I signed in for my work email and added the device on my account, but when I was filing out the warranty for liquid damage at the end I can't get it to submit. The submit is graded out and I don't know why Microsoft is asking for $49 for a warranty that is covered for anything. Anyone know how I can file a claim without having to create a admin account. I use to be able to file a claim on the phone or on the website, and not it's restricting my company from submitting claims.

If you do not have Microsoft Complete, liquid damage is generally not covered by the standard warranty, and you would need to pay a higher out-of-warranty fee.

You MIGHT be able to open a service request from https://support.serviceshub.microsoft.com/supportforbusiness with a Microsoft Account. If not, you IT has to register for the newer support portal and use that

    Hi Chu, Jordan,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand how stressful it is to have valid warranty coverage and still be blocked from submitting a repair request online.

Based on Microsoft’s published support guidance, when a Surface device is owned by an organization (business device), repair and warranty claims are not always supported through the standard consumer repair website. Microsoft specifically notes that business‑owned Surface devices must be handled through Surface service options for Business and Education, rather than the consumer self‑service flow.

Normally, liquid or physical damage repairs are chargeable when a device is outside standard warranty, as these types of damage are not covered by Microsoft’s base hardware warranty. However, if you have Microsoft Complete for Surface or an extended protection plan that includes accidental damage coverage, these repairs should be covered during the active coverage period.

You can contact Microsoft Support directly using the official customer service phone numbers. A support agent can review your device details and help create the correct service request. If it’s more convenient and available in your area, Microsoft also provides authorized in‑person service centers for Surface devices.

    I hope this information helps.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reply. I'm here to support.

Liquid damage to Microsoft Surface devices is typically not covered under the standard manufacturer's warranty, which only protects against defects in materials or workmanship. To obtain coverage for liquid damage, you need to purchase an extended service plan that includes Accidental Damage Protection.

Each approved accidental damage claim for a Surface tablet, laptop, or book carries a $49 deductible, which is paid at the time the service is authorized.

If your device warranty does not match your proof of purchase, see Update your warranty with your proof-of-purchase

If your device warranty has expired or to use Microsoft Complete Accidental Damage Protection see more information here: Get service for your out of warranty or damaged Surface - Microsoft Support.
