Hi, We have a COSMOS VC that we've using for years, now we need to migrate from ADLS gen1 to gen2, and during the process, I found out that I don't have enough right although I'm listed as owner for that VC. How can I get elevated right? Thanks

    Hi @Minna Du

As per the below update from CSS team -

You required to migrate from gen1 to gen2

Additionally, CSS confirmed that you do not have permission to register the Microsoft.Storage resource provider in the Azure subscription.

To get elevated rights for migrating from Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) Gen1 to Gen2, you will need to ensure that you have sufficient permissions to access, read, or write all files and set access control lists (ACLs) during the migration process. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Grant High Enough Permissions: During the migration period, it's recommended to grant your account a super-user or owner role. This will allow you to navigate and copy all files, as well as manage ACLs.
    2. Use Managed Identity or Service Principal: If you are using Azure Data Factory, ensure that the managed identity or service principal has the necessary permissions. You may need to follow specific instructions to grant the managed identity the proper permissions in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1.
    3. Check with Your Administrator: If you are unable to elevate your permissions yourself, you may need to contact your Azure administrator or the person who manages Azure roles and permissions within your organization to request the necessary rights.

By ensuring that you have the right permissions, you can facilitate a smoother migration process from ADLS Gen1 to Gen2.
