MS Word for iPad… I’m unable to select sentences with my cursor

Using MS Word on my iPad, I cannot use my cursor to highlight sentences (or even a few words at a time) anymore. Before the latest update (iOs 26.2.1), I could select words and sentences with ease to move them around the document or address formatting issues, etc.

How can I overcome this? It’s making Word completely unusable and I pay a monthly fee for it. Help!
