I bought a new PC (windows 11) and I "just" wanted to move my Office Home & Business from the old PC (windows 10) to the new one BUT my product code is not recognized !
And I spent already 10 to 15 hours trying to find a solution !!

What I have also done is to uninstall Office from my old PC (windows 10).

How to get my product code being recognized ?

Additional note : I am living in Japan and all these products have been bought in Japan and are in Japanese.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

To transfer the Office perpetual license from your old device to the new one,

    1. Uninstall Office Home & Business from your old Windows 10 PC.
    2. Then, on your new Windows 11 computer, go to https://account.microsoft.com/services Services & Subscriptions page and sign in with your Microsoft account that has the Office license.
    3. Locate your Home & Business product on the page and click "Install".
    4. This will download the Office setup files on your new PC. Install the Office application on your new device.
    5. Once installed, open any office apps and sign in with your Microsoft account.

If you are encountering any error during this process, let me know in the next reply.

If your product code for Office Home & Business is not being recognized on your new Windows 11 PC, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Verify Product Key: Ensure that the product key you are using is valid and has not been activated on more devices than allowed. Each version of Office has specific activation limits.
    2. Uninstall Previous Installations: Since you have uninstalled Office from your old PC, make sure that all remnants of the installation have been removed. You can use the Microsoft 365 Uninstall troubleshooter to ensure a complete removal before attempting to install it on your new device.
    3. Correct Version Installation: Confirm that you are installing the correct version of Office that matches your product key. If your key is for Office Home & Business, ensure that you are not trying to install a different edition.
    4. Use Activation Troubleshooter: If the issue persists, try using the Microsoft activation troubleshooter. This tool can help identify specific problems related to your installation or product key.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support. They can assist in verifying your product key and provide further guidance on resolving activation issues.

Since you are located in Japan, ensure that the product key is compatible with the region and language settings of your new PC.
