My hotmail account is mass deleting all e-mails from my inbox

Help! I opened my hotmail account today and the account was mass deleting all of the e-mails in my inbox starting with the most recent. There was no way to stop it except to close the window. It continues to do the same thing whenever I open the window or log in.

1.) I need to know why this happened.

2.) I need to recover all those e-mails.
