Same email used on MS 365 Family and MS 365 Business accounts

How can I change the email account that shows for a "Microsoft 365 Family" account that I never used? The one it shows is my work email address and should only be used for my Microsoft 365 Business Standard account.

I will attempt a refund for the Family account once I can separate it from my business standard account.

    Hello

It is indeed bad practice to use the same email username for both personal and business accounts.

On the personal side, Can you sign into your personal account via this link: https://account.live.com?

If so, go to Your Info > Sign in preference, Add an alias.

    You have two options here:

Create new: this will allow you to use the native domain outlook.com to create a new alias.

Add existing: this will allow you to add a 3rd party email address, such as yahoo, gmail, as long as they are not already associated with another Microsoft account.

Once added, make this new alias your primary alias, then you can delete the other email as alias, and the work email is free from this Microsoft account instantly.

Then go to Services, select the subscription, click on manage, and cancel it from there

As for refund, not sure if you are still qualified at this point, but you can chat with support to find out. go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

To change the email account associated with your Microsoft 365 Family subscription, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account: Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page and log in with the credentials of the Microsoft 365 Family account.
    2. Access your account settings: Navigate to the account settings where you can manage your subscriptions.
    3. Change your email address: Look for an option to edit or change your email address. If the current email is your work email, you can update it to a different personal email address that you want to associate with the Family account.
    4. Confirm changes: Follow the prompts to confirm the changes. You may need to verify the new email address.

If you encounter any issues during this process, you may want to contact Microsoft support for assistance in separating the accounts and ensuring that your work email remains exclusively tied to your Microsoft 365 Business Standard account.
