My hotmail was hacked and now a Draft message keeps re-generating as a draft message

I have done all the standard things to do, reset password, remove any rules and mail forwarding. I have logged out of everything usign the tool online to unlink my account from any other devices and apps.

I thought this would resolve the issue, but this draft message keeps re-generating with a new timestamp. Its a crappy hack trying to get me to send money and the timer keeps resetting. I assumed if I just waited it would stop....but it keeps happening.

    Hello Joshua Mason,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how concerning it is to see a suspicious draft continue to reappear even after you’ve taken the right steps to secure your account.

Based on what you described, a draft that keeps re‑generating with a new timestamp usually means it is being recreated in the background rather than restored after deletion. This can happen if there is residual access from a connected app/service or a hidden mailbox item that cannot be removed from the Outlook.com interface.

Please note that forum moderators don’t have access to mailbox back‑end tools, so we’re unable to directly inspect or clean mailbox‑level items. At this point, the most effective next step is to contact Microsoft Support so they can review the mailbox directly and perform any necessary cleanup.

To contact Microsoft live chat support:

    1. Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the search bar provided on the page, type "Account hacked or compromised" and press Enter.
    3. Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.
    4. Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.
    5. When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".
    6. For the category, choose "Manage Account Security".
    7. Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".
    8. When prompted, provide a valid contact email where Microsoft can reach you regarding your case.
    9. Explain your situation clearly: Be concise but provide all the relevant details.

After contacting support, continue monitoring your Microsoft account (https://account.microsoft.com) under Security > View my sign-in activity to confirm there are no new sign‑ins or actions.

I hope this clarifies the situation and helps you move forward with resolving the issue.
