I have been having glitches in my laptop. Even though I have updated version of windows 10, my laptop stops working for a few seconds and shows black screen. Chrome gets shut down on its own and my other software as well. Sometimes the chrome tabs shut down on their own when it's not a total black out. I don't know what to do. I need help.

To address the glitches and issues you're experiencing with your laptop, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check for Hardware Issues: Ensure that all hardware components are functioning properly. You can run hardware diagnostics provided by your laptop manufacturer to check for any faults.
    2. Update Drivers: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause system instability. Make sure all your device drivers, especially graphics drivers, are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager.
    3. Run Windows Troubleshooters: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and fix problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and run the relevant troubleshooters for your issues.
    4. Check for Malware: Since glitches can sometimes be caused by malware, run a full scan using Windows Security or a trusted antivirus program to ensure your system is clean.
    5. Perform a System File Check: You can use the command sfc /scannow in Command Prompt (run as administrator) to check for and repair corrupted system files.
    6. Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs: Too many programs running at startup can slow down your system. You can manage startup programs through Task Manager.
    7. Check Event Viewer: Look for any critical errors in the Event Viewer that might give you more insight into what's causing the glitches.
    8. Consider a System Restore: If the issues started recently, you might want to perform a system restore to revert your laptop to a previous state when it was functioning properly.

If these steps do not resolve the issues, you may need to consider more advanced troubleshooting or a full reset of your system, but ensure you back up your important files first.

Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

Based on your inputs, it might be a driver or a hardware error on the PC. Additionally, could you please check the System logs on the PC so I can further investigate the root cause of the issue?

To share the System logs, please follow the steps in the link below:

Press the Windows key + X, then select "Event Viewer"

Click the drop-down of "Windows logs"

Right-click System > click Filter Current logs > Check: Critical, Warning, and Error > Hit OK

On the right pane, click "Save Filtered Log File As..."

Save the System logs file to your desktop and share it by following the steps from the link:

Note: You can also use your preferred cloud storage to upload and share the logs.
