To change the keyboard settings so that the keys match what you press, you may need to adjust your keyboard layout in Windows. It seems that your current layout might not correspond to the physical layout of your keyboard. Here’s how you can change it:

    1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
    2. Time & Language: Click on "Time & Language".
    3. Language: Select "Language" from the left sidebar.
    4. Keyboard: Under "Preferred languages", select your language (e.g., English) and click on "Options".
    5. Add a Keyboard: If the keyboard layout listed does not match your physical keyboard, you can add a new keyboard layout that matches it. Click on "Add a keyboard" and select the appropriate layout (e.g., US, UK, etc.).
    6. Remove Incorrect Layouts: If there are any layouts that do not match your keyboard, you can remove them by clicking on them and selecting "Remove".

After changing the keyboard layout, test your keys to see if they now correspond correctly to the characters you expect when pressed.

If you need more detailed instructions on how to use different keyboard layouts, you can refer to the Microsoft documentation on keyboard settings.

Your description of the problem indicates you have a US English physical keyboard and in the Settings app, that is set to a UK english keyboard.

Open the Settings App, go to TIme and Language - Language and Region.

Add a new keyboard layout and set that to the USb English Keyboard.

Then, move that keyboard to the top of the keyboard list and set it as the default, you can then remove the incorrect keyboard layout.
