Does Copilot for Sales email/meeting summarization consume Dataverse storage, or only CRM‑saved items?
Body: Hello Team,
I need clarification on how Sales in Microsoft 365 Copilot (formerly Copilot for Sales) handles data storage, specifically when used inside Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Learn explains that the Sales app in Microsoft 365 Copilot connects to CRM systems (Dynamics 365 Sales or Salesforce) and reads/writes email and meeting data inside Outlook/Teams. It also states that the app analyzes meeting recordings and provides insights.
My question is:
When using Copilot for Sales features in Outlook/Teams (email summarization, meeting summaries, AI insights):
Does each summary generated by Copilot get stored in Dataverse automatically? — For example, when an email thread is summarized or a meeting recap is generated inside Outlook/Teams.
Or does Dataverse storage get consumed ONLY when the user explicitly performs a CRM action, such as:
- Saving the summary into Dynamics 365 as a note/activity
- Tracking the email to CRM
- Updating an opportunity or lead via Copilot (i.e., only when CRM write‑back occurs)
- Tracking the email to CRM
Since Dataverse storage is tied to CRM record creation/update rules (as described in Microsoft licensing documentation), I want to confirm whether runtime AI summaries inside Outlook/Teams use Dataverse storage, or whether only user‑initiated CRM saves consume it.
Could you please confirm the exact behavior and point to any official Microsoft documentation regarding how summarization output is stored?
Thank you.
