    Good day Martinez, Angel

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand you're encountering an error message stating "sorry your academic status could not be verified" when trying to verify your academic status for a promotion currently being offered to students.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, no one here have authority to verify your academic status as it required personal information. We can only post answers and give suggestions. Below are some steps you can try:

    1. Make sure you have a Microsoft 365 Education trial subscription first

Before you begin the verification, make sure you already have a Microsoft 365 Education trial subscription. If you don't have a trial subscription, visit https://www.microsoft.com/education/products/office enter your school email address, and select Get started

    2. Clear cache

This issue may occur when the verification system is temporarily overloaded or cached. Try clearing your browser cache, then attempt the verification again later, or use a different browser/device while signing in with your school account.

    3. Use the “verify in a different way” option

Another user with the same problem resolved it by using this option. For more details, see: Academic verification failing despite school email and LinkedIn connection

    4. Email check

Sometimes the verification email ends up in your Junk, Spam, or Promotions sections, so make sure to check those as well so you don’t miss it.

    Tips:

    • If possible, connect through your university's Edu roam network.
    • Make sure you’re on the correct country website: Scroll to the bottom‑left corner of the page and switch the region if it’s incorrect.
    • Temporarily turn off any VPN or proxy services.

If the issue continues, consider verifying your academic status again through the official form using personal account at: https://verify.microsoft.com/

To help you further, the best next step is to connect you with Microsoft Support directly so a specialist can review your academic domain and the verification attempt.

Here are steps to contact Support team (live chat)

    Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact

    • In the search hox, type: Unable to verify student eligibility for 12‑month free offer
    • Hit "Get Help"
    • Scroll down to choose Sign in to contact support
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team.

Tip: Support Team availability can vary, and retrying at a different time often helps.

To resolve the issue with verifying your academic status, ensure that you have completed the following steps:

    1. Use your official school email: Make sure you are using your University of Houston email address (ending in .edu) to verify your status.
    2. LinkedIn Connection: Ensure that your LinkedIn account is linked to your Microsoft account and that your LinkedIn profile includes your university information.
    3. Sign in with the correct account: Verify that you are signed in with the same Microsoft account associated with your school email.

If you have completed these steps and are still encountering the error, it may be helpful to check if your institution is supported in the verification system. You may also need to provide additional documents for manual verification, such as a student ID, transcript, or enrollment letter.

For more specific guidance, you can refer to the Microsoft documentation on academic eligibility verification.
