    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question.  I understand how frustrating it is when Excel or Word refuses to open properly and forces you to repair the apps every single time it interrupts your work and usually means something deeper is going on.

Based on Microsoft’s guidance and similar reports from other users, this behavior often happens when Office components become corrupted, when add‑ins break application startup, or when Excel can't load its normal configuration. Microsoft notes that repeated repair prompts commonly indicate problems with damaged installation files, add‑ins, or conflicting settings.

To resolve this, start by running a full Online Repair from Windows Settings to replace broken Office components, as this is the recommended fix for persistent issues. If Excel or Word opens in Safe Mode, that indicates an add‑in or startup file is causing the failure, so disabling add‑ins one by one can isolate the problem. You can also try turning off hardware acceleration, since Excel performance issues can occur when graphics settings conflict with Office. If none of these steps help, a clean uninstall and reinstall of Office is often the final and most effective fix for repeated repair loops.

May I ask whether Excel opens normally in Safe Mode (excel /safe), or does it still fail there? This will help determine whether the issue is with Office itself or caused by an add‑in or corruption in your user profile.

Feel free to let me know what you observe, and I’ll guide you through the exact next step to stop these repeated repair prompts for good.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel
