Removed account from authenticator app but need the back up codes.

Our charity linked our Instagram to a personal Authenticator app by mistake.

We removed the account from the Authenticator app but now when we try and log in to Instagram it is still trying to send the code to the Authenticator app but there is nothing on the app.

It says to try another way using the back up codes but again we don't have access to these.

Is there a way to recover a removed account from the Authenticator app to regain access to the codes?

Unfortunately, once an account is removed from the Microsoft Authenticator app, you cannot recover it or regain access to the codes generated by that app. The backup codes you mentioned are typically provided at the time of setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) and should be stored securely by the user. If you do not have access to these backup codes, you will need to follow Instagram's account recovery options.

Here are some steps you can take to regain access to your Instagram account:

    1. Check for Backup Codes: If you have previously saved the backup codes provided by Instagram during the 2FA setup, you can use those to log in.
    2. Use Alternative Recovery Options: Instagram may offer other recovery methods, such as sending a verification link to your registered email or phone number.
    3. Contact Instagram Support: If you cannot regain access through the above methods, consider reaching out to Instagram support for assistance in recovering your account.

It's essential to keep backup codes in a secure location for future use when using two-factor authentication.
