I cannot add my hotmail account to my Microsoft Authenticator. I cannot get into my account and when I try the recovery form is says they will not submit for a new password as my account has 2FA. How do I reach support to get into my account

    Hi Dale McCall,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum and explaining the issue. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when two‑step verification is enabled and you’re unable to sign in or complete the standard account recovery.

When an account has 2FA turned on, the password recovery form cannot be used. If you can’t sign in and are unable to add the account to Microsoft Authenticator, kindly contact Microsoft Support for further assistance

To contact Microsoft Support, please follow these steps:

    • Visit: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus
    • Briefly describe your issue (for example, “Can’t sign in to Microsoft account with 2FA”) and press Enter
    • Scroll down and select Contact Support
    • Choose to connect with a live agent via chat on your browser

For security and privacy reasons, account access and identity verification can’t be handled through public forums.

I hope this helps you reach the right support channel to recover access to your account. If you need any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out again. I’ll be glad to help.
