    Hello timothy mulhere,

Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how frustrating it is that your Microsoft 365 Family subscription didn’t renew and your account ended up on a Personal plan instead.

This usually happens when the original Family subscription expires and the system temporarily switches you to a Personal plan purchased through Apple or another store. Since you already canceled the Personal plan, you should now be able to return to Family, but only if you sign in with the same Microsoft account that originally owned the Family subscription.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Make sure you are using the same Microsoft account that previously held the Family subscription. If you sign in with a different account, the Family plan won’t appear. Sign in at: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    2. Under Services & subscriptions, check whether the Family plan shows:
      • Expired > You can renew it directly from this page.
      • Not listed > You may have signed in with the wrong Microsoft account.
    3. Family subscriptions bought via the Apple App Store must also be renewed through Apple. Open your Apple ID > Subscriptions to confirm whether the Family plan exists there.
    4. If the Family plan is completely missing, you can simply purchase Microsoft 365 Family again using the correct Microsoft account > Services & subscriptions > Buy Microsoft 365 Family.

    Hope this helps

To resolve the issue of your Microsoft 365 Family account not renewing and inadvertently switching to a personal account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Your Subscription Status: Sign in to your Microsoft account at account.microsoft.com/services to see the status of your subscriptions. Make sure that your Microsoft 365 Family subscription is not still active or in a grace period.
    2. Re-subscribe to Microsoft 365 Family: If your Family subscription has indeed expired, you can re-subscribe by selecting the Microsoft 365 Family plan from the subscription options available on your account page.
    3. Contact Support: If you encounter issues while trying to renew or re-subscribe, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance. They can help you navigate account issues and ensure you get back on the Family plan.
    4. Avoid Personal Account Confusion: Ensure that you are signing in with the correct Microsoft account associated with your Family subscription to avoid confusion with the personal account you mentioned.

Following these steps should help you restore your Microsoft 365 Family account.
