how do i enable the copilot button in my tool bar in word on mac?

I have the most recent version of word for mac, i'm running mac os 26.2, and the copilot button is not visible in my home tool bar. how do i enable it?

    If you are running Office 2021 or 2024, the one-time purchase versions, they don't include Copilot. That feature only comes with a Microsoft 365 subscription. Here is Microsoft's page on plans that include Copilot.
