    Hi @Austin, Taniya R

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve been experiencing with the Microsoft Authenticator app.

If you are an end user and your account is managed by an organization, the best next step would be to reach out to your organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator and request that they reset your MFA settings through the Microsoft Entra Admin Center.

If you’re unsure who your administrator is, Microsoft provides an official guide that can help you identify them: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

Please kindly ask your administrator to follow this guide to revoke existing MFA sessions and require re-registration: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID |…

Screenshot of manage authentication methods from the Microsoft Entra admin center.

Once the administrator revokes the existing authentication methods, the next time you sign in you’ll be prompted to register MFA again, which usually resolves the issue and allows you to receive codes successfully.

If you are an administrator yourself, and there is another admin in your organization, you can ask them to reset your MFA using the same process. However, if you are the only administrator in your tenant, the forum won’t be able to make changes on your behalf. In that case, you’ll need to contact Microsoft Support directly by phone so the Microsoft Data Protection team can assist you. They have the appropriate tools and procedures to securely verify your identity and help you regain access to the account.

Please try to find the related hotline number to call the frontline and let them raise a ticket for you: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:

(When you call the support number, you may hear an introduction of about 30 seconds such as "you can visit the link...". You can ignore this introduction and wait until you are presented with the options. Then press "1" as a business email user, and again "1" for technical help.)

In some regions, the initial interaction may be automated, so here’s a general idea of how the conversation might go to help you prepare:

What kind of problem are you experiencing?

    Answer: Authenticator

    What products do you use?

    Answer: Office 365 for business

Is this for an education or company account?

    Answer: For companies

    Are you an administrator?

    Answer: Yes

Are there any other administrators in your organization?

Answer: No. I am the only admin in my tenant

Do you need a... Service request?

Answer: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please send me direct to the Data Protection Teams.

During the phone call, you will need to provide the information associated with your subscription, such as your company name, billing details, phone number, and an alternate email address, etc. This information allows the Data Protection team to verify your identity and securely assist you in regaining access to your administrator account.

I truly hope these steps help you identify the right support path to have your MFA reset. If you have any updates or further questions, please feel free to reply here, I’ll do my best to support you in any way I can.

Thank you again for your time and understanding.

If you are unable to receive a verification code on your Microsoft Authenticator app, it may be due to several reasons, such as the app not being properly set up on your device or issues with the account configuration. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check for Alternative Sign-in Methods: If you have any alternative methods to sign in (like a recovery email or phone number), try using those to access your work email.
    2. Contact Your Administrator: Since you mentioned needing to remove the Authenticator app, you may need to contact your organization's admin. They can reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings, allowing you to set up the Authenticator app again or use a different method.
    3. Use the Admin Center: If you are an administrator, you can navigate to the Microsoft Entra Admin Center and require re-registration of MFA for your account. This will prompt you to set up your authentication methods again.
    4. Microsoft Support: If you are still having trouble, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance, especially if you are the only administrator in your organization.

These steps should help you regain access to your work email and resolve the issue with the Authenticator app.
