Not Receiving Notification in Microsoft Authenticator

When trying to log in to my company's Microsoft Teams, I'm asked to approve a sign-in request with Microsoft Authenticator. It wants me to enter a two-digit number into the app. The problem is that I am not receiving the notification in the Microsoft Authenticator app to put the two-digit number in. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times. My phone is an Android, and I've made sure the date and time settings automatically update.

    Hello @Greg Miller,

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed explanation of the issue you are experiencing. I understand how frustrating it can be when sign‑in notifications are not coming through, especially after you have already tried reinstalling the app.

To make sure I can guide you in the most effective way, could you please help clarify one point for me?

Are you an end user in your company’s tenant, or are you an IT administrator managing Microsoft 365 for your organization?

If you are an end user, the quickest way to resolve this is to contact your company’s IT administrator and ask them to revoke and set up your MFA methods again from the admin side. They can reset the Microsoft Authenticator registration for your account and help you re‑enroll the app.

If you are an administrator, please confirm this so I know how best to assist you and can guide you through the appropriate admin‑level steps.

Thank you for your time and cooperation. Once I have this information, I’ll be happy to help you move forward.

    Best regards,

If you are not receiving notifications in the Microsoft Authenticator app while trying to log in to Microsoft Teams, there are a few things you can check:

    1. Notification Settings: Ensure that notifications are enabled for the Microsoft Authenticator app in your phone's settings. Sometimes, notifications can be blocked at the system level.
    2. Network Connection: Make sure your device has a stable internet connection, as notifications require an active connection to be received.
    3. App Permissions: Verify that the app has the necessary permissions to send notifications. You can check this in your phone's app settings.
    4. Alternative Methods: If notifications are still not working, consider using the verification code method. The Authenticator app can generate a one-time password (OTP) that you can enter manually instead of relying on notifications.
    5. Anomalous Sign-ins: Starting in August 2023, anomalous sign-ins do not generate notifications. If you suspect this might be the case, you can manually open the Microsoft Authenticator app and refresh it to check for any pending requests.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to contact your IT support for further assistance.
