I have recently upgraded my office laptop to Win11. All applications work fine but printing function by Microsoft excel is not connecting. My printer works fine with all other office apps except excel where it shows printing message on screen and freezes at that. nothing prints in the end. I have done updates to office 365 and installed all updates. Any help is appreciated. thanks.

    Hi @yasser,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

    Thank you for contacting us.

To help resolve this issue, please try the following solutions:

Method 1: Check and manually select the printer in Excel

    • Open File > Print.
    • Make sure the printer you are using has been added to the system and its status shows Ready. User's image

Method 2: Check print settings in the application

Some application-level settings may prevent the document from printing.

    • Confirm that the paper size, page orientation, and layout match both the document and the printer.
    • Ensure that Print to PDF or Print to file is not selected.
    • Check the Pages to print option (All pages or a specific page range).

Method 3: Perform an Online Repair for Microsoft Office

    • Step 1: Open Windows Settings.
    • Step 2: Select Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features).
    • Step 3: Select Microsoft Office, click the three-dot icon, choose Modify, then select Online Repair. User's image

    Method 4: Restart the printer

    • Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on to refresh the connection.

Method 5: Update or reinstall the printer driver

Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause printing issues.

    1. Select Start > Device Manager.
    2. Expand Printers.
    3. Right-click your printer and select Update driver.
    4. If no updates are available, select Uninstall device, then restart your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the printer driver. User's image

Method 6: Run Microsoft’s automatic printer troubleshooting tool

It seems that you are experiencing issues with printing from Microsoft Excel after upgrading to Windows 11. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Printer Status: Make sure that your printer is set as the default printer and is in a ready state. You can do this by going to the "Devices and Printers" section in the Control Panel.
    2. Print from Other Applications: Since you mentioned that printing works from other Office applications, try printing from a simple text editor like Notepad to see if the issue is specific to Excel.
    3. Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your printer installed. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues with newer operating systems.
    4. Repair Office Installation: You can try repairing your Office installation. Go to "Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features", find Microsoft Office, and select "Modify" to repair it.
    5. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure that your Windows 11 is fully updated, as updates can fix bugs that may be causing the issue.
    6. Disable Add-ins: Sometimes, Excel add-ins can interfere with printing. Try disabling any add-ins to see if that resolves the issue.
    7. Reinstall Printer: If none of the above steps work, consider removing the printer and reinstalling it. This can sometimes resolve communication issues between Excel and the printer.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, you may want to check for any known issues related to printing in Windows 11 or consult Microsoft support for further assistance.
