Caps Lock OSD, how to turn it off?

Yesterday while playing games, I think I clicked some sort of key combination and this started appearing every time I press caps lock. It is very annoying and takes my focus off of whatever I'm doing. How do I turn this off?

I use the latest version of Windows 11

I use an MSI laptop

I use a Royal Kludge RK61 keyboard

Any help is greatly appreciated :)Screenshot 2026-02-06 131812

    Hi Nikodem Dudek,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that you want to disable the Caps Lock on‑screen indicator on Windows 11.

Before I proceed, I need to narrow down the issue first: Does this indicator appear when using both your MSI laptop’s built‑in keyboard and the RK61 keyboard, or does it only appear when using the RK61?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Check Windows built‑in keyboard settings

    • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard
    • Turn off any toggle related to "Toggle Keys" or notification sounds

2, Check Ease of Access related notifications

    • Go to Settings > Notifications
    • Look for any keyboard‑related notification source and turn it off

3, Disable startup utilities that may trigger OSD

    • Press Windows + R and type taskmgr
    • Open the Startup tab
    • Temporarily turn off keyboard or OSD‑related apps Disclaimer: This is a third‑party link not provided by Microsoft. Please be cautious with any unsafe links or files included. Microsoft is not responsible for the content or security of third‑party websites.

    4, Re‑seat the RK61 keyboard connection

    • Disconnect the keyboard
    • Turn it off and on
    • Reconnect via cable or Bluetooth (This can reset unwanted OSD triggers)

5, Create a new Windows user profile

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Other users
    • Add a new account
    • Sign in and test whether the OSD appears (This checks if the issue is triggered by per‑user settings)

6, Restart your device and test again

Hey, I think the issue is caused by the latest MSI Center update. To fix it, try the following steps:

    1. Go to Windows > System Configuration
    2. Open the Services tab
    3. Look for MSI Foundation Service
    4. Uncheck it and click Apply
    5. Restart your system when prompted

This worked for me after trying multiple other methods (like turning off Toggle Keys and making changes in the Registry Editor), which were unsuccessful.

By the way, I’m using an MSI laptop running Windows 11, so this should be relevant for other MSI users on Windows 11 as well (perhaps).

Windows does not have a function for an on-screen Caps Lock indicator, that is always created by some utility installed on the PC.

Open the MSI Command Center utility and check in there for any OSD setting that can be disabled to remove the Caps Lock Indicator.

If the setting is not in there, if you have any utility installed for a keyboard or mouse like the lOgi-Options utility, check in there for the OSD setting.
