0: The chosen topic for this question is wrong. Bu so were all the other topics I could choose from.

For 10 years I have been retired from my job as a high school teacher. This year I bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad X1 notebook computer.
When logging in to my Microsoft account, I am STILL getting asked if I want to login to my school account or my private account.
1: How can I cut the connection to my former IT-administration? My user account at the school has been deleted, but Microsoft still thinks that the account is live. My new, private e-mail address is placed on both entries as the account ID.
2: When logging in on my new computer I get this message:
"AADSTS900561: The endpoint only accepts POST requests. Received a GET request."
and I receive the recommendation to go to my IT-administrator and show this error code. But that I cannot do., and I don't think it would help anyway.
How can I get out of this? I do not want to give up my e-mail address and open a Microsoft account based on some pro-forma e-mail address.

    Hello,

    Please sign into https://portal.azure.com

Then click on Manage Entra ID

    Then click on Manage tenants.

Do you see the organization listed? If so, check th box and click on "Leave".

If you cannot do it, please tell me the exact error message given. Thanks!

To resolve the issue of being prompted to log in with your former school account, you can try the following steps:

    1. Clear Cached Credentials: Sometimes, your computer may have cached the credentials for your school account. You can clear these by going to the Credential Manager in Windows:
      • Open Control Panel and select "User Accounts".
      • Click on "Credential Manager".
      • Look for any entries related to your school account and remove them.
    2. Sign Out Completely: Make sure you are signed out of all Microsoft services. You can do this by visiting the sign-out page at https://aka.ms/vssignout to ensure that you are completely signed out of all sessions.
    3. Use a Local Account: If you want to avoid using your Microsoft account temporarily, you can switch to a local account:
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info.
      • Select "Sign in with a local account instead" and follow the prompts.
    4. Check for Multiple Accounts: When signing in, ensure that you are selecting the correct account type (personal vs. work/school). If you see both accounts listed, make sure to select your personal account.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If the problem persists, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for assistance, especially if the account deletion did not fully propagate through their systems.

Regarding the error message "AADSTS900561: The endpoint only accepts POST requests. Received a GET request," this usually indicates an issue with how the request is being made. This can often be resolved by ensuring that you are using the correct login URL and method. If you continue to face issues, reaching out to Microsoft Support may be necessary for further troubleshooting.
