Microsoft Planner now requires password and MFA sign-in everyday - extremely disruptive

Education license (University).

Have used and relied upon Microsoft Planner for a couple of years.

Suddenly it has started to ask for password and MFA sign-in every day.

This excessive friction is enough to make me contemplate abandoning this useful piece of software.

I have it installed as an Edge 'app' on two PC's.

Have tried uninstalling apps, changing password, asking admin to reset 'inactivity timeout', ensuring updates are correct, etc.

It is like having to sign-in with MFA every time one opens Outlook - totally impractical.

What's changed?

Please help me solve this problem.

Much appreciate any helpful solution. Thank you.

    Hi,

Please check the recommended settings in the documentation Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication prompts and session lifetime - Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn

Some settings like Remember multifactor authentication and Show option to remain signed in can make users get too many sign in prompts. This can slow people down and even make accounts a bit more at risk. It is better to review your session lifetime settings and choose what fits your team. Entra lets you adjust these settings so you can find a good balance for your users.

    I hope this helps!
