how do I get outlook to look like the 365 version

I just downloaded Microsoft Office Home 2024 version, and did not know that Outlook was not included. I downloaded another Outlook for Windows Classic, but it looks totally different than the one in 365. Is it called something different, and if so, how do I find the link to download it?

You are correct, Microsoft Office Home 2024 does not include the Desktop version of Classic Outlook. Office Home & Business 2024 does.

There are three ways to get Classic Outlook:

1 - Buy a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes downloadable Desktop Apps.

This is all plans except "Microsoft 365 Basic" and "Microsoft 365 Business Basic".

For some subscriptions (e.g. MS 365 Family), the default installer does not include Classic Outlook. You have to download and install it separately.

Then configure it to always use Classic Outlook.

2 - Buy a perpetual license for Office Home & Business 2024 which includes Classic Outlook for Windows Desktop.

None of this applies to Mac. You can only get New Outlook for Mac. No Legacy.

Hi Tracey,

To further check, is your Office version is Home and Student? If so, then its normal that Outlook is not included in there. However, you can utilize the new Outlook version of Windows wherein you can still send and receive an email but the interface would be different from the Classic one and its a free version.

To get Outlook to look like the Microsoft 365 version, you should download the new Outlook for Windows. The new Outlook is available through the classic Outlook in-app toggle or from the Windows app store. If you have already downloaded the classic Outlook, you can switch to the new Outlook by using the toggle found in the classic Outlook app.

If you are looking for the new Outlook specifically, it is included by default in new deployments of Microsoft 365 desktop apps starting with Version 2502. You can also download it from the Microsoft Store or use the installer available through the Office Content Delivery Network (CDN).

For a smoother transition, organizations are encouraged to run both classic and new Outlook side-by-side, allowing users to try the new Outlook while still having access to the classic version.

If you need to install the new Outlook, make sure your system meets the compatibility requirements, which include having Windows 10 Version 1809 or later and an internet connection.
