I can not reach my Microsoft account

I forgot my Microsoft account password. For the password reset, I can access the verification code sent to my email. So far, everything is fine, but the process also asks for the Authenticator app.

The problem is that I downloaded the Authenticator app on my previous phone, and I cannot access it. On my current phone, when I try to set up the Authenticator, it asks me to sign in, but I don't remember the password. I am currently stuck in a loop. Please help!

Then I really think your school has to address the problem. However, I'm not positive of that. There are others here who would be more familiar with educational accounts and may be able to add insight.

An educational account is not a Microsoft account. Did you subscribe to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family using the school address?

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

Is your account part of the school's Microsoft 365 for Education plan? If so, only the email administrator at your school can help you.

I forgot to mention that this is an account that created via school email.

To regain access to your Microsoft account, follow these steps:

    1. Account Recovery Form: Since you cannot access the Authenticator app and have forgotten your password, start by visiting the Microsoft account recovery page at https://account.live.com/acsr. Select the option for password recovery and follow the instructions provided.
    2. Verification Code: You mentioned that you can receive the verification code via email. Make sure you have access to that email account and retrieve the code when prompted during the recovery process.
    3. Provide Detailed Information: If asked for additional information, give as much detail as possible, such as recent email subjects or contacts you have communicated with. This information can assist in verifying your identity.
    4. Wait for Lockouts: If you encounter a lockout due to multiple failed attempts, you may need to wait for the lockout period to expire before trying again.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If you are still unable to recover your account, reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. You can access the support portal, where options for chat support or callbacks may be available.

Keep in mind that you cannot disable two-step verification without signing in first, so focus on recovering your account access first.
