According to this issue, it seems to me that your work account was assigned with Microsoft 365 Office license that does not include desktop license - Microsoft 365 Business Basic or Exchange Online Plan 1.

You might need to check with the administrator about the license or if you are the administrator - please consider upgrading to a license which includes Desktop app usage - Microsoft 365 Business Standard.
