Hello, I have recently been running into trouble with my lenovo thinkpad randomly crashing. This typically occurs when opening the lid but does not happen every time. I started noticing this problem mid-January. The crash is a event 41 which typically follows an event 125. I need help trying to stop this issue.

Hi, I'm Jan and I'm happy to help you today. I'm sorry you're having this problem. The minidump files indicate memory corruptions with no specific driver listed.

    • Power reset/cycle your computer. Shutdown the computer then unplug your adapter for 30 seconds Press the power button for 10 seconds to turn it off then plug in your adapter. then power on your computer. and observe if the system stabilizes.
    • Try updating and reinstalling the chipset drivers. Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's support website for your motherboard. Do not use any driver download/updater to download the drivers. Then observe if the system stabilizes.
    • Try to rollback the Qualcomm Atheros wireless LAN driver in the Device Manager Press the Windows key + X Select the Device Manager Expand the Network Adapter Select the Qualcomm driver properties. Rollback the driver and restart the computer. If the rollback option is unavailable. Download and install the latest driver from the laptop manufacturer support website
    • External devices, such as docking station ,external USB storage controllers (SSD, HDD) and wireless adapters, can also cause these issues. Make sure their drivers are installed and updated. You can also try uninstalling them to see if they are the cause of the problem.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your Lenovo ThinkPad, particularly with Event ID 41 indicating that the system has rebooted without a clean shutdown. This can often be caused by hardware issues or conflicts, especially if it occurs when opening the lid. Event ID 125 may also provide additional context, as it typically relates to power management or device issues.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Power Supply: Ensure that your power supply is functioning correctly. An unstable power source can lead to unexpected shutdowns.
    2. Update Drivers: Make sure all your device drivers, especially for the graphics and chipset, are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause conflicts that lead to crashes.
    3. Check for Hardware Issues: Run hardware diagnostics provided by Lenovo to check for any potential hardware failures. This includes checking the RAM and hard drive.
    4. Review Event Viewer: Look at the Event Viewer logs for Event ID 125 to understand what might be causing the Event ID 41. This can provide clues about whether the issue is related to a specific device or driver.
    5. Clean Boot: Perform a clean boot to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if a startup program is causing the crashes.
    6. Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated, as updates can resolve known issues.

If the problem continues after these steps, consider reaching out to Lenovo support for further assistance, especially if the device is still under warranty.
