I am receiving mail but not sending. After clicking send on new mail, it just goes to outlook and sits there.

    Hi Kevin Aguilar

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.

Based on the symptoms you described, may I know what type of email account you are using?

    • Microsoft Exchange: Your email is hosted by Microsoft, typically a work or school account ending in your company domain
    • Third-Party Email Provider: Your email is hosted by another provider or uses IMAP/POP settings.

Additionally, you may first attempt to send an email using the Outlook Web App if your account is Exchange or use the web app provided by your third‑party provider to check whether you can send successfully.

I look forward to your response

If you are receiving emails but unable to send them in Outlook, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some potential causes and solutions:

    1. Outbox Issues: Emails may be stuck in the Outbox. Check your Outbox folder and try resending the email.
    2. Connection Problems: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection. If you're on a metered connection, Outlook may restrict sending emails.
    3. Account Configuration: Verify that your email account settings are correct. You may need to check the SMTP server settings.
    4. Corrupted Send/Receive Group: If there is a damaged Send/Receive group, it may prevent sending emails. You can create a new Send/Receive group to resolve this issue. For Outlook 2010 and later, go to File > Options > Advanced > Send/Receive and create a new group.
    5. Antivirus Software: Sometimes, antivirus software can interfere with Outlook's ability to send emails. Ensure your antivirus is updated and check if it has any settings that might block Outlook.
    6. Outdated Software: Ensure that Outlook is updated to the latest version, as updates can fix bugs and improve performance.
    7. Repair Outlook: If none of the above solutions work, consider repairing your Microsoft 365 programs.

If the problem persists, you may want to run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant to diagnose and fix issues with sending emails.
