Hi,
found a few suggestions that might help.
- Turn off 2 factor verification on any account that will allow you to do this.
- For a Microsoft account: The confusion comes in when you add the Authenticator App to your MS account. There is an option to use 3rd party compatible QR codes. If you select that you will get a 6 digit TOTP vice 8 digit TOTP.
- Turn two step verification on or off for a Microsoft account https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/how-to-use-two-step-verification-with-your-microsoft-account-c7910146-672f-01e9-50a0-93b4585e7eb4
- For other accounts see if the code can be sent to an email account, not a mobile phoneWe are supposed to send users with Authenticator questions to Microsoft Q&A but I've spent some time searching https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/search/?terms=authenticator%20showing%208%20digit%20codes and found a few suggestions that might help.
