    Hello,

How did you obtain your license initially?

Did it come with the device preinstalled, or did you purchase it?

If you purchased it, did you purchase from Microsoft, or from third party?

Is it originally a Win7/8 key?

    Hi ,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

The process of activating Windows after a motherboard change depends on the type of license you possess.

If your computer came preinstalled with an OEM license, the license was tied to your old motherboard, and it would not be transferred. You will need a new one for your new computer.

If you bought the product key separately and it was a retail key, try to reactivate it:

Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change Product Key and enter the key that you have.

If it is a digital license linked to your Microsoft account, it should activate Windows automatically after signing in with your Microsoft account.

If it did not work, try to troubleshoot it by going to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Troubleshoot.

To reactivate Windows 10 after changing your motherboard, you can follow these steps:

    1. Use the Activation Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation, and select "Troubleshoot". This may help you reactivate Windows if it detects that you changed hardware.
    2. Link Your Microsoft Account: Ensure that your Windows license is linked to your Microsoft account. If you had previously linked it, signing in with that account on your new hardware should help reactivate Windows automatically.
    3. Contact Microsoft Support: If the troubleshooter does not work and your license is not linked, you may need to contact Microsoft support. They can assist you in reactivating your digital license after a hardware change.
    4. Phone Activation: If you prefer, you can also perform a phone activation. This involves using the command slmgr.vbs /ato in an elevated Command Prompt, which will guide you through the activation process via phone.

Since you mentioned that your product key will not activate, contacting Microsoft support is likely the best option to resolve this issue.
