    Hi Haz,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand you cannot open images inside folders on Windows 10 and you only see the “Not implemented” error unless the image is on the desktop.

Before proceeding, I need to narrow this down a bit:

    1. Does this happen with all image formats (PNG, JPG, BMP) or only specific ones?
    2. Does the issue appear in all folders, including Documents and Pictures?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

    1, Update Microsoft Photos

    • Open Microsoft Store
    • Select Library
    • Click Get updates and install all available updates

2, Repair or reset the Photos app

    • Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features
    • Select Microsoft Photos > Advanced options
    • Choose Terminate, then Reset

    3, Try reinstalling Microsoft Photos

    • Open PowerShell (Admin)
    • Run: get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage
    • Restart the device
    • Reinstall Photos from Microsoft Store

4, Test with another image viewer

    • Right‑click the image
    • Select Open with
    • Choose Paint or another installed app

    5, Check file type associations

    • Open Settings > Apps > Default apps
    • Choose default apps by file type and ensure PNG/JPG open with a valid viewer

6, Run a system file repair

    • Open Command Prompt (Admin)
    • Run: sfc /scannow

    Hello,

If you right‑click the image and choose “Open with”, can you open it using a different image viewer?

We need to confirm whether the issue is caused by the image software itself.
