My Microsoft Authenticator is not working. How can I de-activate it to access my email?

I have switched to a new iphone and in the transfer process from my old phone, it strangely happened that a multifactor authenticator was implemented on my business email account. Now when I want to map my email account on my new phone or also my computer, it asks me for Authenticator codes, but there is no code popping up on my Authenticator app, neither on my old or new phone. How can I de-activate Authenticator so that I can access my email account?

    Hi,

If you backed up the accounts to the cloud, uninstall the app and reinstall it. Do not sign in; choose Restore instead.

If you did not back up your credentials and you are the Business account owner (admin), consider contacting Microsoft to regain access.

To regain access to your email account when the Microsoft Authenticator app is not providing codes, you will need to reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings. Here are the steps you can take:

    1. Contact Your Administrator: If you are part of an organization, reach out to your IT administrator to reset your MFA settings. They can do this through the Microsoft Entra Admin Center by selecting your user account and requiring re-registration for multifactor authentication.
    2. If You Are the Only Administrator: If you are the sole administrator of your account, you will need to contact Microsoft Data Protection Support directly. You can do this by calling their customer service hotline. Explain your situation and request assistance in resetting your MFA settings. Be prepared to verify your identity and administrative rights.
    3. Alternative Method: If you cannot reach Microsoft support, consider creating a temporary trial tenant. You can sign up for a new Microsoft 365 trial account, access the admin console, and submit a support ticket to the Data Protection team regarding your locked account.
    4. Verification: When contacting support, provide them with your administrator email address, the domain name of your locked tenant, and details about the authentication issues you are experiencing.

These steps should help you deactivate the Authenticator requirement and regain access to your email account.
