Looking back from older threads with the same error 0x80244022, this could be a Microsoft server-side problem.

I just found out that there are some reports from other users experiencing the same issue. I recommend reporting it through the Feedback Hub app to notify Microsoft.

Kindly wait for a few hours and checking every now and then to see if it resolves itself.

Please try the additional methods below.

    • Press Start then search "Internet Options"

    Select the "Advanced" Tab

Scroll down the list until you see "Use SSL/TLS"

Unselect SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 and 1.1

Select TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 (if available)

    Click Apply then OK

    Restart your computer

    • Turn off Proxy

Open Internet options > Connections > Lan settings

    Turn off "Automatically detect settings"

    Restart your computer

If it is already Turned off, please put a checkmark in "Automatically detect settings"

    Restart your computer

    • Change your network DNS

    Open Control Panel

Select Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center

    Click Change adapter settings

    a. To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, right-click the Ethernet interface and select Properties

    b. To change the settings for a wireless connection, right-click the Wi-Fi interface and select Properties

Under Networking tab, double click TCP/IPv4

Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.

Replace those addresses with the IP addresses below

    Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4

    Click Ok

    Restart your computer

    • Reset Network Settings

Press Windows key+ I to open Settings

Select Network & Internet > Advanced network settings

Under the "More settings", click Network reset

    Click Reset now then Yes

    Restart your computer

    Hi, good day!

    • When was the last time it worked properly?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

Please let me know if you have tried the methods below.

    • Please try signing out your Microsoft Account from the Microsoft Store then sign-in again
    • Reset the Microsoft Store cache

Press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the Run dialog box,

    type wsreset.exe -i

    and then select OK.

    Note:

A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close, and Microsoft Store will open automatically.

    • Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.

    • Re-register built-in apps and reinstall the Microsoft Store app

    Press Windows key + X

Click and Run Windows PowerShell (Admin)

If you're experiencing issues with downloading from the Microsoft Store and it's stuck on "give us a few minutes," here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Microsoft Store Install Service: Ensure that the Microsoft Store Install Service is running. You can do this by pressing Windows Key + S, typing services.msc, and finding the service. If it's running, try restarting it.
    2. Disable VPN or Antivirus: If you have a third-party VPN or antivirus software installed, try temporarily disabling it to see if it resolves the issue.
    3. Reset Microsoft Store Settings: Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Microsoft Store, click on the three dots next to it, and select Advanced options. From there, choose Reset.
    4. Re-register Microsoft Store: Open PowerShell as an administrator and run the following command:
         Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

After running the command, restart your computer.
    5. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows is up to date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and checking for updates.
    6. Verify Internet Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable and not being interrupted by any network settings.

If WhatsApp Desktop is crashing, it may be related to the same underlying issues, so following the above steps may also help with that problem.
