How can I remove a watermark that was in a PDF I converted to Word? The "remove watermark" feature doesn't seem to recognize the watermark

I converted a pdf to a word doc using Zendocs. The watermark doesn't seem to be recognized by Word and the "Remove Watermark" command doesn't work.

How can I get rid of this watermark? Thanks in advance

In Word, repeated objects such as watermarks are always anchored to the page header. To remove such an object, activate the header/footer view after which you can select and delete it.

Alternatively, an object that mimics a watermark could be anchored to some paragraph on a document page and positioned behind text. That means you would have to remove these objects one by one. The Selection pane will help you select those objects that reside on the current page. To speed up the process, using a macro to delete shapes in the drawing layer may help.

Thanks for the ideas. I actually found a You Tube discussion that got me half way there.

I followed the advice to help me remove section breaks ... and then with a little bit to trial and error discovered that I had to select the first couple of lines of text in teh document and that managed also to select the text of the watermark(s). I deleted that and then just re-entered the line text I had removed (in my case a title so not a lot of text).

Very kluge-y but effective in the end!

    Hello,

It may be baked into the page as an image. In that case Word cannot “remove” it as an object. See if Zendocs has the feature to preserve layers/objects.

To remove a watermark from a Word document that was converted from a PDF, you may need to edit the header where the watermark is located. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open the Header: Double-click at the top of the page to open the header area.
    2. Locate the Watermark: If the watermark is present, it will be visible in the header section.
    3. Delete the Watermark: Select the watermark and delete it. If there are multiple sections in your document, you may need to repeat this process for each section.
    4. Exit the Header: Click on the “Close Header and Footer” option to return to the main document.

The "Remove Watermark" feature may not work if the watermark is not recognized as a standard watermark due to the conversion process from PDF to Word. Therefore, manually deleting it from the header is often the most effective method.
