My microsoft account is not properly functioning... I can't see my device when I access my microsoft account when I logged into my browser and try to find it but I can see it clearly as a linked device in my laptop's system properties. I also can't download anything from the microsoft store or access the bitlocker because the account only shows one device linked to my microsoft account.

    Hi Sahan Jayasuriya,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how concerning it can be when your Microsoft account and Windows features don’t seem to line up. These symptoms often happen when the device is only partially connected to a Microsoft account, even though you’re signed in on the PC.

Here are some possible checking steps that you can try in this situation:

1 - Confirm the account used on the device

    • Open Settings > Accounts > Your info
    • Make sure it shows “Microsoft account” (not “Local account”)

    2 - Verify Windows activation

    • Go to Settings > System > Activation
    • Confirm Windows shows Activated

3 - Sign in to Microsoft Store with the same account

    • Open Microsoft Store
    • Select your profile icon > Sign out
    • Sign back in using the same Microsoft account used in Windows

4 - Check BitLocker recovery key location

    • If BitLocker is enabled, the recovery key is typically saved to the Microsoft account used when BitLocker was turned on
    • Sign in to your Microsoft account and check the recovery keys section

If your account still shows only one device, or Microsoft Store and BitLocker access remain unavailable after these steps, the device may need account‑side verification. At that point, the best next step is to contact Microsoft Support.

If your device is visible in the system properties but not in your Microsoft account, it could be due to a few reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Sign Out and Sign In Again: Sometimes, simply signing out of your Microsoft account and signing back in can refresh the connection and display the device correctly.
    2. Check for Multiple Accounts: Ensure that you are logged into the correct Microsoft account. If you have multiple accounts, the device may be linked to a different one.
    3. Activation Issues: If your device was recently upgraded or changed, there might be activation issues that prevent it from appearing in your account. You may want to check the activation status in the system settings.
    4. Sync Settings: Ensure that your sync settings are enabled. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings and make sure that the sync options are turned on.
    5. Microsoft Store Issues: If you are unable to download anything from the Microsoft Store, it may be related to the account issue. Try resetting the Microsoft Store app by going to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, finding Microsoft Store, and selecting Advanced options to reset it.
    6. BitLocker Access: For BitLocker, ensure that your device is properly set up with a recovery key linked to your Microsoft account. If the device does not appear in your account, you may not have access to BitLocker features.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
