Hi Sean Scott,
Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how worrying this situation can feel, especially when you’re trying to recover access to your device and the Devices page looks empty.
Here are the possible checking steps that you can follow to recover your BitLocker key:
- Go directly to Microsoft Recovery key
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account used on the PC.
- If you’ve used more than one Microsoft account (personal, work, or school), check each one.
- On the locked PC, note the Recovery Key ID (first 8 digits).
- Match that ID with a recovery key listed on the page and enter the 48‑digit key on your PC.
If you don’t see a matching key online, please check for any locally saved key as the recovery key may have been saved elsewhere when encryption was set up.
If the recovery key can’t be found in any of these locations, Windows will require a reset to continue. This removes encrypted data, so it’s best used only after confirming the key isn’t available.
Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
