I get a message that Personal Vault isn't a good name for my vault; I didn't choose it. Could you explain how to change it? Thanks!

    Hello richard fischer,

Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how confusing this is, especially since the name “Personal Vault” is system‑generated and not something you chose yourself.

The Personal Vault folder cannot be renamed. Its name and structure are locked because it’s a protected area inside OneDrive that follows Microsoft’s security rules. That’s why you’re seeing the message, it isn’t asking you to rename it; it’s just alerting you that the folder name is reserved.

If you need your own naming structure, you can create folders inside Personal Vault and name those anything you like, but the vault’s root name itself isn’t editable.

    Hope this helps
