I am writing because I am completely stuck due to an unresolved Microsoft account issue that your support team failed to address months ago, and it is now actively preventing me from using my work laptop.

A few months ago, my Microsoft account was compromised after my younger cousin shared the login details with someone on Discord. I immediately tried to get help from Microsoft Support, but after repeated attempts with no meaningful assistance or resolution, I practically gave up.

At the time, that account contained paid services like Minecraft and Forza Horizon, which I lost access to. While that was frustrating, I have moved on from those.

The real problem now is that this same Microsoft email was used when setting up my work laptop. Because of this:

  • I cannot sign into the laptop with any other email

Windows Hello constantly pops up

When I press “Continue,” it fails and says “Try again another time”

I am effectively locked out of core Windows functionality

I cannot use Copilot or other Microsoft services at all

This is not acceptable. I am being blocked from using my own device because Microsoft tied critical system access to an account that I was never helped to recover or properly detach.

To be very clear: I am not asking to recover old games or subscriptions. I need one of the following resolved urgently:

Proper recovery or replacement access for the compromised account

OR a way to fully detach that email from my work laptop and sign in with a new Microsoft account

OR a documented, permanent fix for this Windows Hello login failure

Right now, I am stuck in a loop created by Microsoft’s account system with no clear exit, and previous support attempts were ineffective.

Please escalate this issue to someone who can actually resolve account-to-device binding problems. This should not be happening to users who simply want to use their computer.

I expect a clear response and a real solution.

    Hi Visith Minosh,

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand you cannot use your Windows 11 device because Windows Hello keeps asking for verification from a compromised Microsoft account that was originally used on the laptop.

Before moving forward, I would like to clarify a bit more:

    • Are you currently able to sign into Windows using the local PIN or password?
    • Is the compromised Microsoft account still listed under Accounts in your Windows settings?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Check if the device is using a local account instead of the compromised Microsoft account

    • Go to Windows Settings > Accounts
    • Open Your info
    • Check if it shows “Local account”

2, Remove Windows Hello sign‑in methods

    • Go to Windows Settings > Go to Accounts
    • Open Sign‑in options
    • Remove Face, Fingerprint, and PIN if available

3, Disconnect the old Microsoft account from Windows

    • Go to Windows Settings > Go to Accounts > Your Accounts
    • Remove any Microsoft account listed under Accounts used by other apps

4, Convert the current profile to a new Microsoft account

    • Go to Windows Settings > Go to Accounts
    • Select Your info
    • Choose Sign in with a Microsoft account instead

5, Reset Windows Hello key‑based credentials

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Privacy & security
    • Select Windows Hello
    • Recreate the PIN
