How do I open saved Outlook Files without buying Office 365?

I bought a new Dell laptop last year with MS Office 365 installed. I purchased MS Office Home & Business 2024 & MS Access 2024 separately. I uninstalled MS Office 365 (or so I thought.)

In MS Office Home & Business 2024/Outlook I can't open saved outlook files (pst) nor can I save outlook files (pst). I get the prompt "You need to purchase Office 365 to open these files"

If I uninstall MS Office Home & Business 2024, I will lose all of the e-mails I have kept for future reference

Please advise

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

Are you using classic Outlook or new Outlook? New Outlook opens PSTs differently than classic Outlook. What operating system are you using?

That doesn't work!!! It states "Outlook Data Files Require a 365 subscription"

To open saved Outlook files (PST) without purchasing Office 365, you can follow these steps:

    1. Ensure You Have the Right Version: Since you have MS Office Home & Business 2024, it should support PST files. Make sure that you are using the desktop version of Outlook that comes with your Office Home & Business package.
    2. Open the PST File:
      • Open Outlook.
      • Go to File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File.
      • Browse to the location of your PST file and select it to open.
    3. Check for Installation Issues: If you are still prompted to purchase Office 365, ensure that your Office Home & Business 2024 installation is complete and functioning correctly. You may want to repair the installation through the Control Panel.
    4. Backup Your Emails: Before making any changes, consider backing up your current emails. You can export them to a new PST file if needed.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
